Rock Hill Great Danes

How to Care for Our Danes
We breed for health, temperament and because we love Great Danes. Our dogs are raised as members of our family and are loved very much. Our puppies will come to you pre-spoiled with lots of love and one-on-one attention. They will also come with their dew claws removed, vet checked, wormed and with age appropriated vaccination shots.

When it comes to owning a Great Dane, make sure that you are able to provide the following:

- a quality Large Breed dog food
- regular vet visits
- regular exercise -proper vaccinations
- flea/tick prevention
- heart worming and regular worming
- socialization for your new family member
- obedience training

We recommend that you feed your puppy a Large Breed puppy food. During your large breed puppy’s first two years, he is forming the skeleton and muscles that will support his large frame for the rest of his life. Many disorders have been linked to improper nutrition of large breed puppies. If you were to feed a regular puppy food to a large breed puppy the protein level would be too high causing the puppies bones to grow too fast! This is not good. Your Great Dane puppy needs a good quality large breed dog food.

We recommend:

- PMI Nutrition Exclusive Chicken & Rice Large Breed Puppy Food
- Eagle Pack Large/Giant Breed Puppy Food
- Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy Lamb & Rice Formula

Due to the high percentage of bloat in large breed dogs, we are recommending that you discuss with your vet the possibility of tacking the stomach at the time of spay or neuter.
Bloat is not covered under your 2-year health guarantee contract nor is any illness believed to be related to overfeeding, high amounts of protein, or over supplementation of vitamins and minerals. Also not covered in this contract are complications due to vaccinations and over-vaccinating.

We recommend discussing the health care options available to your Dane with your veterinarian.
